VERONIKA DECIDES TO DIE-PAULO COELHO( review by Christy Sebastian)

As the name suggests this book about the suicide attempt made by the protagonist Veronika. She is a  young, beautiful woman with a steady job a loving family. She has everything. Still she is not happy. One day Veronika decides to die. From there onwards the story begin. On 11 November she realised that her day has finally arrived. She rented a room in a convent and she took four packets of sleeping pills. She took the pills one by one and she laid down on her bed.She took a magazine. And she went for a sleep.
Later she wakes up in a mental hospital.Where she is informed that she has only few days to live. Her attempts had made a damage to her body.During her days in the mental hospital she meets Zedka who suffers from mental depression and Mari who suffers from panic attack. And finally she meets Edward who is schizophrenic. Even though she knew she has only few days left for her death she still fell in love with Edward.

As the days went she experience a number of changes in her vision of life, her death and belief. These experience has also changed her attitude and her personality .She started to express her anger and fears spontaneously.  Her presence in the hospital made an effect on all patients. She encouraged to think about their lives and value it more. She also persuade them to achieve their dreams them.
In the end we will discover that she has no damages but to make her reaslise the importance of the life she has.An experiment made by her Dr.Igor and the experiment was a successful one.

What Paulo Coelho is trying to tell us that life is worth living even though we have difficulties all we have to do is change our perspectives.A book worth reading!
