The Immortals Of Meluha-Amish Tripathi(review by Navya.K.S)

'The Immortals Of Meluha' is a book which is in fact the first part of the Shiva trilogy written by Amish Tripathi. It is in fact his debut book. The story focuses on the making of the legend of Lord Shiva. It starts from Siva's place, that is in Tibet where his tribe called the Gunas being always attacked by another tribe called the Pakratis. That is when he meet Nandi, who in the story is an outsider from a place called Meluha who invites Siva and his whole tribe to his land.Shiva's arrival in Meluha opens a new chapter in is life by becoming the Neelakanth or the man with blue throat. The Meluhans who call themselves as Suryavanshis were in search of the Neelakanth for centuries for saving their whole kingdom from the evil of Chandravanshi, their rival kingdom. The whole of Meluha believe in the legend of Neelakanth blindly except the lieutenant of their land.He was a follower of Lord Rama, the amazing king and the law-giver and was not ready to accept an outsider just because he has got a blue throat. For him its the action that matters and not simply a blue throat. Then another important character in the story is Sati, daughter of Daksha, the king of Meluha. The romance between Siva and Sati and their marriage serves the subplot and the mainplot revolves around the battle between the two kingdoms. The terrorist strikes by the ferocious Nagas also add a new dimension to the build up suspence.
Overall, its a book that gives one a very good idea about the story of Siva in such a way that we feel it happened very recently and not some four millennia ago.The way of presentation is simply awesome and its definitely a page turner.
