Immerse yourself in an electrifying reading experience like no other -- international bestselling author Paulo Coelho's "The Fifth Mountain." A stunning novel in the tradition of the highly acclaimed "The Alchemist, " this is Coelho's daring retelling of the prophet Elijah. During the chaos of the ninth century B.C., Jezebel, wife to Israel's ruler, orders the execution of all prophets who refuse to worship the pagan god Baal. The young prophet Elijah, commanded by an angel of God to flee Israel, seeks safety in the land of Zarephath, where he unexpectedly finds true love with a young widow. But this new-found rapture is to be cut short, and Elijah sees all of his hopes and dreams irrevocably erased. What follows is sure to be viewed as Coelho's literary milestone: the quietly moving account of a man touched by the hand of God who must triumph over his frustrations in a soul-shattering trial of faith.Inspired by a circumstance that forever altered Coelho's own life, "The Fifth Mountain" is a testament to the truth that tragedy in life should not be considered a punishment but a challenge of the spirit. Gorgeous in its narrative and unforgettable in its prose, "The Fifth Mountain" teaches without being sanctimonious. This is a timeless story for the ages, a tale of the past that resonates powerfully for today's readers.

ADULTERY-PAULO COELHO(REVIEW BY MERIN AUGUSTIN)
With a great expectation I started to read the book written by Paulo Coelho borrowed from my cousin. It talks about a woman around her thirties begin to question the routine and predictability of her days.In everybodies eyes she has a perfect life;a solid and stable marriage to a rich and loving husband, sweet children and an extraordinary carrier.Eventhough she feels enormous depression. All that changes when she encounters an ex-boyfriend from her adolescence.
Each chapter swings from rational to irrational and back again. This story perfectly illustrates the faint line between madness, happiness, unhappiness and the eternal search for our own personal legend.
Life is sweet for Linda, but she is in great agony and depression. An interview turned sexual encounters with the teenage 'sweetheart' and galvanises her into a re-examination of her life. The writer lead the readers to a world of human emotions.Their the reader would be open to a moment of seeing the divine is nature,of being reminded that we are small beings whom are a part of large mysterious life.
At best coelho can be appreciated for attempting to explore the mind and soul of a woman going through a mad-life crisis.Though the story is far away from our life but it can be happen. So we can conclude that Paulo Coelho is totally succeed in his writings.

The stranger who calls himself Carlos wanted to know whether the people would go to the extent of killing someone for their personal gains. His aim was to prove that humans were devil-minded in the deep heart's core.Ever after the terrible past of the stranger, where his innocent wife and children were killed by the terrorist,he has this eternal conflict between the good and evil in his mind. Will the town folks succumb temptation, confirming that man is inherently evil?Or will goodness triumph over evil, proving that every human has the capability to make his own choices and decide his or her destiny? These are the questions that the novel arouses in the readers.
Chantal, his instrument also wants to escape with the gold to some other place and make a living and that is what happens at the end.People are tempted in the probability of a prosperous life and it brings out the devil in them.

The story begins in 1986 when coelho undertakes his initiation into the order Regnus Agnus Mundi(RAM) when he subsequently fails. He is then told that he must embark on a pilgrimage along the Camino-de-Santiago to find the sword that is the symbol of acceptance into the order of ram.He do this to gain insight into the simplicity of life. The journey transforms as he learns to understand the nature of truth through the simplicity of life. He begins his journey with a guide, also a member of RAM,who goes by the alias Petrus.During the journey Petrus shows him meditation exercises and introduces him to some of the down-to-earth elements of western thought and philosophy and teaches him about love and its forms. In the pilgrimage Coel ho recounts the spectacular traits that lead him to discover personal power, wisdom and a miraculous sword that seals his irritation into the society of tradition. The search of truth is assimalated to a personal search for meaning, for things that we need in life such as truth, agape, enthusiasm and spirituality.
