The Lottery Ticket-Anton Chekhov(review by Aneeta Johnson)

The lottery ticket’ written by Anton chekhov says the story of a married couple who had build castles in air. Anton chekhov[1860-1904] was a Russian physician,renowned short story author and a play writer.

Ivan dmitritch is a middle class man who lives with his family. He was contented with his income. He and his wife Masha had life had led a happy life. One day his wife asked him to check the number of the lottery ticket that she had taken last day. Actualy he doesn’t believe in this things,since he was sitting infront of the newspaper only he checked it. His wife was clearing dishes. He tells him that the number is 9499 26.

 Ivan notices that the number is indeed 9499.He drops the paper thier and started day dreaming about winning 75,000 and the things that they are going to do with the money.They spend the next few minutes  dreaming about traveling and spending the money.Both husband and wife begin making plans to spent the money.They were so excited at the thought of winning all th money.They were smiling and dreaming about what they will do the money.

Then Ivan start dreaming about traveling without his wife.He begins thinking about her becoming stingy with money.He begins hating his wife with the money.Likewise the wife begins thinking that her husband will be after all her money.After all, it is her money.She started hating him for desiring her money.Before the couple even knows that they have won, they start spending the money.
