There will come a time, when all of us are
dead. All of us. This is a quoting from the book An Imperial Affliction, by Peter
Van Hauston, which is mentioning throughout the novel. This book doesn’t really exist, but mere imagination by John
Green.
The story is about a
girl Hazel Grace & her boyfriend Augustus who have survived from cancer. They
have met during their gathering set for cancer survivor to bring their life.
Fate has bought them together and they start their life from that gathering
place which is called the heart of Jesus. Augustus lost one his legs as a side
effect of cancer, but he is very optimist and he always holds a cigarette between
his truth without lighting it to show his control over death by keeping
something, the cigarette, that can cause death, in his control.
Hazel, a girl with no
other friend, became attracted to Augustus and falls into his aura. They both
love each other and they shared books.’ An Imperial Affliction ‘, an imaginary
novel created by John Green, as written by Peter Van Houston, was Hazel’s
favorite book. The book ends without an ending. Both Hazel& Augustus wants
to know that ending of the book and they tried to contact the author. Augustus
gets reply from the author asking for their visit. Overflowing with excitement Augustus
plans to visit the author with Hazel. But Hazel conditions become serious and
it was difficult for her to travel. But her strong willpower does not keeps her
from going.
The story has such an effect that will make
every reader cry. The story shares the true nature of a disease so common
nowadays and how it can destroy someone’s life and with that take away the joy
in others life. The story gives a clear picture about people suffering from
cancer and their unaccomplished dreams, life and love.
